Ingredients in Gujarati Dal
- Toor Dal Wash and Socks: 1 cup
- One teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- One tsp each of salt and red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon powdered coriander
- 1/4 tsp powdered turmeric
- One dry red chilli from Kashmir
- One tsp each of brown sugar and lemon juice
- Four tablespoons of oil
- Half a teaspoon of cumin seeds
- Regarding Zeera Rice
- One bowl of cooked rice
- Two teaspoons of oil
- Half a teaspoon of cumin seeds
- Two teaspoons of cilantro
- For Zeera Aloo: 1 big cooked potato (3 tablespoons oil)
- two chopped green chilies
- Five curry leaves
- To taste, add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, salt, and red chili powder.
Instructions for Cooking
- Put dal in a pan and add coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder, ginger garlic paste, and cook until soft. Once cool, grind in a machine.
- Put oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, red Kashmiri chili, and bhaghar to the dal.
- Put oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilies, Kashmiri red chili powder, salt, and boiled potato pieces. Stir the potatoes well, add coriander leaves, and set them aside.
- Mix atta and salt to make a fine dough, then fry the dough to make a chapati. Set the chapati aside on a piece of fry paper.
